The ask
Amazon's seasonal launch depended on 220 ski board and skating boot assets, each far more demanding than a standard catalogue item: intricate geometry, multiple materials, branding elements, and fine surface detail that each needed 6–8 days of dedicated production time. The SLA was fixed at 15 days. On paper, the per-asset math and the calendar didn't reconcile. This wasn't a work-faster problem. It was a resourcing and parallelization problem, and any slip would have hit Amazon's go-to-market directly.
The approach
We solved the math before we started building, not while we were behind. Capacity planning and production forecasting happened before kickoff, so the resourcing plan was sized to the actual per-asset effort. The most complex assets were routed to the most experienced artists rather than distributed first-come-first-served. Daily production reviews caught bottlenecks early enough to redistribute work in real time, Production and QC ran in parallel wherever sequencing allowed, and continuous quality monitoring caught defects while they were still cheap to fix.
