The ask
Standard production capacity through 2024 ran 1,000–1,500 vignette assets a month. In November, Amazon introduced a new requirement out of that baseline entirely: 10,000 assets by the end of December, a 7 to 10x jump in monthly volume, inside a two-month window, with no allowance to slip the date, drop quality, or pause the regular business already running alongside it.
The approach
We treated it as a capacity-planning problem first, not a work-faster problem. The plan started with a detailed effort estimation against the actual gap between current and required throughput, then broke the jump into a phased production plan with weekly delivery milestones rather than one distant deadline, so drift would show up in week one, not week seven. Resources were reallocated and additional production capacity brought on where the math didn't close. Daily production tracking with cross-team review meetings kept Production, QC, and Project Management working off the same numbers in real time. Quality checks stayed prioritized throughout specifically to protect first-pass approval rates.
Why it matters
The harder part of a 7–10x scale-up isn't finding extra hands. It's not losing quality or missing dates while you do it, twice over, because the regular business didn't stop to make room. Hitting the December deadline at full volume did that, and it left behind something more useful than the one delivery: a phased-planning and daily-tracking framework that's now repeatable the next time volume spikes without two months' notice.
The path to launch
- 01 Capacity & effort assessment
- 02 Phased plan with weekly milestones
- 03 Resourcing & shift scheduling
- 04 Daily tracking & cross-team reviews
- 05 Quality checks to protect first-pass rate
- 06 Continuous bottleneck monitoring & correction
- 07 10,000 delivered on deadline
Outcome
- 10,000 Vignette assets delivered on the December deadline
- 7–10× Jump over the 2024 monthly baseline
